Westlake Hospital a Midwest Teaching Institution for Revolutionary Surgery
More than a half million people in the United States have gallbladder surgery each year but only a few surgeons have been trained to perform the new revolutionary single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), including Westlake Hospital surgeon Dr. Fred Tiesenga. SILS requires only one incision in the belly button and results in better cosmetic results, minimal pain, less risk for infection, less bleeding, and allows the patient to return home the same day.
